Coping Tools for Emotional Well-Being

What is a Coping Toolbox?

Therapists often refer to coping tool boxes as go-to skills and strategies that you can reference to help you self-soothe and regulate your emotions when needed. It may be helpful to create a list of these items on your phone, write them out and post them somewhere for easy reference, or create a small bag with these items to toss in your purse or backpack to carry with you. In this section we’ll be exploring some possible helpful coping tools that you don’t have to go to therapy to learn (although exploring and discussing these ideas with your therapist can certainly help). You know yourself best, what resonates with you the most?
